One of the most beloved historic homes in Cape Charles, “Sea Gate,” hosted BnB guests for many decades. It is now being offered for the second year as a Vacation Rental home after being charmingly upgraded and refurbished. This spacious home is ideal for a large family or several families because it sleeps 12 yet has nooks for finding solitude. Located on the block across Bay Avenue from the Cape Charles beach, guests can enjoy tangy salt breezes while lounging on the home’s beautiful front porch in comfy rockers. Enjoy the side patio while having lunch at the picnic table or delight in the back yard, just lounging or playing games. When stepping across the threshold at “Sea Gate,” you will be greeted by both the ambiance of historic Cape Charles and by an architecturally-unique home, beautifully decorated, furnished and equipped as a comfortable modern home. It also offers one of the best locations in Cape Charles for vacationers because they can easily walk to the beach and boardwalk as well as the to the Fun Pier to enjoy the scenery or fish and crab day or night. ABOUT THE FIRST FLOOR: Entrance into the home is into a large foyer with a grand piano. Off the foyer to the left is the living room which is well-furnished and includes a sofa that becomes a pull-out bed with a thick new mattress. A living room door opens to a light-filled, glassed-in Florida room, with a spiral staircase leading to an upper level sun porch/sitting room. Just off the living room is a powder room and the well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook and a desk. Off the foyer to the right is a beautiful dining room with a dining room table which accommodates eight. The dining room opens to another lovely glassed-in porch with tables accommodating ten. ABOUT THE SECOND FLOOR: The large staircase from the first floor leads to the second floor with four bedrooms. Two of these bedrooms have their own full bath with a shower. The other two bedrooms have a half bath and access to a hallway full bath with a bathtub/shower. All four bedrooms offers Queen beds, TVs and desks. ABOUT THE THIRD FLOOR: A little staircase leads up to a very large children’s room on the third floor. We think that when children first see it, they will say “Wow!” because it is fully equipped with many games and game tables. But adults will say “WOW” too because it gives the kids a separate, spacious place to congregate and play . This very large room includes alcoves, a sofa, beds that will sleep four, and a full bathroom with a shower. New in fall of 2019 is a heating/air conditioning system dedicated to the 3rd floor. WHAT TO EXPECT: Here is what you can count on: a sanitized and clean home will greet you when you arrive. Our housekeepers use as many green cleaning products as possible to try to avoid a strong smell of cleaning products. The linens, which are included in your rental fee, will be fresh, beds will be made up, extra blankets are available. The gas grill will be sparkling clean, in excellent condition, ready to use with plenty of propane in two tanks. Our heating and cooling systems have annual maintenance and will keep temperatures comfortable. Air filters are changed regularly. Initial supplies include paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, soap, dishwasher soap, etc. Importantly, in the unlikely event you should have a problem, please call us and we will respond quickly to try to take care of the problem. It is our goal to assure that at “Sea Gate” you will have a problem-free, enjoyable vacation. Also, dogs will be considered on a case- by- case basis. LOCATION: Not only is “Sea Gate” a wonderful home for a relaxing and enjoying a memorable vacation, but its location is within easy walking-biking-golf carting distance of a boatload of amenities.   The house was conviently close to beach and shopping. Stormy weather hampered us but did not stop us. The rental staff was super and we would recommend them- specfically Doug and Summer. The area is relaxing.

  This is our 5th year at Seagate! The home is charming, and filled with all the amenities that you could ask for. The location is also perfect as it’s close to the beach and close to the downtown area. We’re looking forward to our visit next year!

  We loved the location of this house...one block to the beach! Doug with Blue Heron was helpful with questions. The 4 grandkids loved the third floor bedroom/game room. The bedrooms on the 2nd floor for the adults were good...only suggestion would be new mattresses and a couple need more sturdy bed frames. House was clean upon arrival and everyone loved trying the paddle board at the beach one day. One thing we couldn't find was a broom...which is helpful for sand at the beach. This was a great location for everything.

  We loved our stay at SeaGate. The house had everything you wanted and great location, short walk to the beach and into town. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There were even beach towels and chairs available, which we didn't know, as it was not mentioned in the description.

  We had a great time in Sea Gate. The location is perfect, the house is well equipped with anything one needs in a beach house, from kitchen utensils to beach chairs or games. The kids really enjoyed their own floor.
